A repeater sponsor is a group or individual that produced and is responsible for the repeater. They would also be referred to as the repeater owner.

Under FCC Part 97 rules, they may, or may not, be the trustee of the repeater since a trustee can be a person who does not actually own the repeater but is responsible as a control operator.
